few tips for setting up an aquarium

i just thought that i might share with you some tips and advices for seting up your own aquariums or fish tanks

FYI, this is just my idea and my experience about aquariums, i am not saying that this is the best and the only way you have to do your aquarium, you can always do it in your own way or you can refer to someone else

ok, the very first thing you should know is the type of the fish or the animal that you want to keep, (now i only have experience about fresh water fish tanks, but i recently ventured in to the marine fish tanks also,, i will give you an update on that later)
now, for me there are 3 types of fish keeping

1- the ornamental type, some people just want to keep a one or two fishes in a small bowl or a smaller tank. most of the time it will be a single or a pair of gold fish, colorful guppy or Siamese Fighting Fish which i love most :)
2-the monster fish keepers,, these people will have huge aquariums and normally fishes that grow huge will be housed,, now monster fish keeping can be from Oscar fish, Giant Gourami, Arwana, Arapaima, Giant Catfish, Redtail Catfish and so on,,
3-the community tank lovers,, these people will own an average fish tank and it will contain many types of community fishes mostly it will be live bearer fishes-guppy, platty, molly and sword tail,,it might be mixed with different type of tetras, angels and anything which can be kept in that very same tank, that’s why its called a community tank

so as i said, before you even think about having a fishes, you should decide which type of the fish that you want to pet, in each mentioned cases above, the setup, maintenance and care is totally different, so it is not easy that u can change from a ornamental type to the monster fish keeping

the most important thing that you should keep in mind is that, these are live animals, meaning that you have to take care of them really really well!!!!!

once you decide the type, then comes the part where you have to spend for the setup, depending upon the type of the fish, you should have to give a special attention to the things that are going to be used for the tank, this includes, proper and adequate filtering systems, lighting, heating (if required) and the substrate of the tank

i think that’s it for now,,, i will give few ideas about the different type of filtering systems later......

brief intro

every one has been asking why i havent updated my blog.... well... for an honest answer, i can say that i am a really busy person :) not that i have a heavy long job,, but i m normally much busy after the work.
let me tell you about little bit of my self, i am a Telecom engineer in Wataniya Telecom Maldives,, its a pretty good job specially u do really interesting things almost everyday,, and i really like the job,,,the only boring thing about my job is that i have to travel 20 min from the capital Male' to Hulhumale to my office,, now that really suks when you are in Male and the culture here is not included to "travel" to work,, ya it really makes a pain in the ass for "WASTING" 40 min out of everyday life,,, i dont think much people think about that,, but i really wished if it can be used for something better
before joing WTM, i was a Marine Engineer in Volvo Penta,,, fixing those damm rusty oily engines,,
i have always wanted to be a an Aircraft engineer,, but i never got a chance from the only aviation operator in Male,,, Island Aviation

so much about my career... now lets see about my other interests
first thing about me is i am a aqua hoppyis, i love fish,,, anything which includes fish, i like it,,,
fishing, snorkeling, setting aquariums, and keeping huge fishes in my tank has been the most enjoyable thing that i do
i spend few hours every weekened to re-do my tank set up and to take care of my beautiful fishes
i have 2 tanks at home,, one is more than 3 feet long, nearly 2 feet high and 2 feet in dept
there 2 tiger oscars (10 inch), 1 red oscar (8 inch), 1 giant redtail gourami (12 inch), 1 pink giant gourami (10 inch), 3 common plecos AKA sucker mouth (12 inch, 10 inch and 7 inch) in the big tank

the smaller tank is a typical 2 feet long tank having many jewel chichlids, which i have breaded from a single pair, and 4 4 inch pink giant gouramis and 2 brown plecos (4 inch)

if there are any aquarium hobbyst,, let me know i can help you out with my long term experience and knowlegde, i will keep on posting more about aquarium business

now i think thats it for now,,, i m off to bed,, have to get up in the morning to go to office and to do the same boring travelling again,,,
ok ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Dear readers

I have seen many blogs and I really admired some of those, specially the one that my wife created!!!
I know that she is not a IT or a software person,,, but somehow she was really good at that,,
so I was thinking to myself,,, if my wife can do that,, why cant I do the same or at least somewhat better!!! some might think that I am jealous,, yes may be,,, but I don't care,,
I just want to host a blog where I can post about what happened in my life and my thoughts about my life
I think this is a way that I can put all my thoughts out of my head and keep a record of my life

so please keep on reading about my life!!

Thanks
